Koji Nagahama known as “Coach Koji”, started dancing with a group of his close friends as a teenager. What first started out as a hobby to stay active eventually evolved into a lifelong passion for dance. As a Bboy, Koji danced competitively throughout Alberta for many years with his crew School of Bandits, and his closest friends in Funky Monks crew and Beta Four crew. He has also had an opportunity to train with and make connections with many Bboys and Bgirls across Canada. When Koji started working at Lethbridge School District 51 with the Technology Department, he was thrilled to hear about the LCI Arts Academy Dance Program and the work they were doing with students. After connecting with Geordan Olson and discovering their common appreciation for movement and floor work, Koji began working with the academy students teaching breaking. He is proud to be one of the founding members of “YQL MVMNT” alongside Geordon Olson and Kristi Legge. He now dedicates his time by sharing his love for breaking and hip hop culture and helping “coach” the next generation of YQL dancers
