LCI Arts Academy of 2020 Jackson Zeck:
Throughout high school I tried out many different sports looking for something athletic that I truly loved. Then at the beginning of grade 11 I was convinced to go to an after school breakdance training session by a friend of mine. Turns out that it was just what I had been searching for. Something that truly spoke to me and made me feel excited to train. Dance combines: physical strength, rhythm, coordination, power, timing, musicality and so much more. Dancing builds an extreme level of athleticism and lets us be in tune with how our bodies move. It has allowed me to feel like a proper athlete for the first time in my life. Being in the dance academy has been a blessing for me and a highlight of my high school career. I am truly grateful for all of the guest choreographers who have come in to lead us towards achieving our potential but I would like to especially thank Mrs. Olsen and Koji for taking me in and helping me develop a love for dance. They push us really hard and expect a lot from us but it has taught me that if you want to make something great, then you need to put in the effort. In other words if you want to put on an incredible show year after year, then you need to be trying your hardest. Everyone can attest that the work results in an incredible product. I am so thankful to have been part of this incredible program and I plan on dancing for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for this experience.
